Researcher/Guest Scientist Visa for Indian Citizens – Germany
Who Can Apply?
- •PhD or PostDoc students with a work contract as a student assistant or scientific assistant should apply for a study visa instead
- •Applicants whose highest qualification is a Bachelor's degree must submit a work contract instead of a hosting agreement
Required Documents
- •Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years, with at least two empty pages)
- •Visa application form (completed online with VIDEX, printed twice, and signed)
- •Three biometric passport photos (not older than six months)
- •Declaration for additional contact and legal representation (signed twice)
- •Declaration in accordance with § 18 AufenthG
- •Two copies of the passport's data page (A4 size)
- •Hosting Agreement (as per § 18d Residence Act), signed by the German research institution/university and the applicant
- •If applicable: Scholarship/fellowship award letter
- •Proof of academic qualifications (Master's or Bachelor's degree)
- •If applicable: Letter of confirmation from a previous Indian employer
- •Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- •Travel health insurance (minimum coverage €30,000 in the Schengen area, valid for the travel period)
- •Visa fee (waived for scholarship holders)
Important Notes
- •All documents must be presented in original plus two copies (A4 size)
- •The German Mission in India may request additional documents
- •Submitting incomplete documents or refusing to attend a visa interview may result in rejection
- •Submission does not guarantee visa approval
