Who Can Apply?

University Graduates

  • A recognized or comparable university degree in Germany
  • A job offer in Germany appropriate to qualifications
  • Minimum annual gross salary:

    • -€43,759.80 for STEM (MINT) & health professions (2025)

Skilled Workers with Tertiary Education

  • A degree from a tertiary education program (equivalent to a university degree)
  • A job offer in Germany appropriate to qualifications
  • Minimum annual gross salary:
    • -€43,759.80 for STEM (MINT) & health professions (2025)

IT Specialists (Without a Degree)

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the IT sector within the last 7 years
  • A job offer in the IT or communications technology field
  • Minimum annual gross salary: €43,759.80 (2025)

Special Regulations

  • For jobs in STEM (MINT) fields and health professions, or if you graduated within the last 3 years, the lower salary threshold (€43,759.80) applies
  • Employment in these fields requires approval from the Federal Employment Agency (BA)
  • If you want to work in a regulated profession (e.g., medicine or law), you must obtain a professional practice permit
  • Foreign degrees must be recognized and assigned to at least level 6 of the ISCED 2011 or the European Qualifications Framework
